The Homemade Meat Sauce is made with beef and Italian sausage. It’s great for lasagna or spaghetti, and it’s made with simple pantry ingredients.
My perfect meat sauce is rich and thick, bursting with tangy tomato flavor and featuring not just one, but two kinds of meat.
It’s a bonus if the sauce can be prepared quickly and doesn’t require any unusual or exotic ingredients.
I have a favorite Homemade Meat Sauce recipe that is simple, delicious, and uses common ingredients. I’m excited to share it with you so that you can enjoy homemade sauce without having to use jarred sauce anymore.
The desire to create the perfect Homemade Meat Sauce originated from the pursuit of making the perfect lasagna. The two go hand in hand and are essential to each other.
The Make-Ahead Lasagna recipe makes a large batch of meat sauce, producing at least a quart of sauce. You can use this sauce for the lasagna recipe or make it separately.
I prefer using both beef and ground sausage in this recipe, along with fennel seeds to enhance the sausage flavor. All the other ingredients, including a small amount of sugar for a touch of sweetness, can be found in your pantry.
You can use it to make lasagna, pour it over spaghetti, or simply enjoy it by eating it with a spoon.
In fact, if you’re craving zoodles, try eating them with this sauce. It enhances the flavor of everything. Simply leave the zucchini noodles raw, top them with the meat sauce, and let the hot sauce slightly soften the zoodles. (In the photo, I added mushrooms to my sauce).
is it a good replacement for pasta? No.
Is it a good replacement for a salad? Yes.
